How long have you been riding?
I started riding fixed when I was a bike messenger in early 2007. I was delivering “pizza” in NYC for 3 years. I’ve been riding fixed for 5 years.

What do you like most about riding?
I love lining up my tricks and figuring out the footing to land a trick.

What places have you ridden?
I’ve rode all around the world. All over Europe like Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and Portugal and in Asia, I’ve been to Japan and Thailand. My favorite place out of all them would probably have to be Portugal.

What’s your favorite trick?
I love giant, steep, do or die rails.

What are your favorite places to ride?
San Jose all day. I love the vibe that San Jose and all the kids have. There’s a lot of motivation for me out here.

If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Chinese food!

What are some of your other hobbies?
Art, skateboarding, hanging out with my lady and playing with my puppy, Shades.

Is there one incident/event you had while riding that sticks out from the rest?
In February of 2008 when I was a bike messenger in NYC, I got hit by a van head on at 40 mph. I broke both sides of my jaw and cracked my chin in half. It destroyed some of my mimetic muscles so I lost feeling to the whole right side of my face. I broke my foot so I couldn’t walk for a while. And I took all the metal out of my mouth on my own which didn’t help out the situation. But that experience changed my life. I don’t know how exactly, but it did.

What do you like most about riding for iMiNUSD?
The fact that we’re all a big, bad family.

Now say something nice about one of the other iMD riders.
Scott Horton doesn’t eat any vegetables. Period.

How long have you been riding?
I have been riding Fixed for 3 years and Fixed Freestyle for about 2.

What (or who) got you into riding?
My buddy Kuni, this guy I used to skate with, used to have a fixed bike and I rode it. It felt really weird at first and I thought it was stupid. But the more I rode it, the more I liked it. I saved up $350 and bought my first bike on Craigslist – a Bianchi Pista. It got stolen the first week I had it. Luckily, I found the kid that stole it. So I punched him and got my bike back.

What do you like most about riding Fixed?
I like how aggressive I can be on my bike. And the fact that you can’t stop pedaling makes you one with your bike. You really have to think about what you’re doing and what your next step will be because your feet are strapped into the pedals. It’s a completely different perspective. Way different from any other type of biking. I know that if the scene dies, I’m still gonna be riding that shit.

Share one incident/event that you find most memorable while riding.
The most memorable thing for me has to be the fact of being able to look back at everything and knowing that it got me to where I am now. I never though that I would ever get to where I am riding a fixed gear bike. The recognition from people overseas is a crazy feeling. Knowing that I have fans gets me really pumped up.

What places/parks have you rode?
I ride all the san jose skate parks. I’ve also rode in Las Vegas, San Diego, Salt Lake City, Kansas, Milwaukee, LA, SF, SJ, Sacramento, and Nevada.

What’s your favorite trick(s)?
Fakie wheelies, fakie bunny hop down stairs, hang 5 and T-bog.

What are your favorite places to ride?
San Jose for sure. There are so many spots and they’re all spread out through out San Jose. I really like riding in the city too (SF). More specifically, I like riding skateparks, dirtjumps, and trails.

If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Mexican food.

What are some of your other hobbies?
Filming, shooting photos, editing, skateboarding and smoking pizza.

What do you like most about riding for iMiNUSD?
(With his arms wide open) It’s always here for us no matter what. The constant support. They’re always helping us out with what we need to do and keeping us on track.

Now say something nice about one of the other iMD riders.
I hate them all. Just kidding. Alex Blanco really does have a great smile. He just needs to get that tooth fixed.

Matt "Slumworm" Reyes Show/Hide Details

Name: Matt "Slumworm" Reyes

How long have you been riding?
I've been riding fixed, or just bikes in general for a little more than 2 years now.

What (or who) got you riding?
I got into riding fixed when I moved up to San Francisco & got tired of pushing wood around the shitty city streets. So I started saving up parts to build up a single speed conversion.

What do you like most about riding?
My favorite part about riding is being able to do tricks (wallrides, wheelies, 180's, sliders) as I'm commuting. 2 for 1 special.

Share one incident/event that you find most memorable while riding (injuries, new tricks, etc):
I hit a homeless guy going 30+ downhill in the Tenderloin one time. That was fun, to say the least. Ask me in person, and I'll tell you some stories, and show you some scars.

What Places/parks have you rode?
Favorite park to ride is The WT Compound, hands down, no questions asked. My favorite place to ride is the Bay Area. Couldn't ask for much more.

What's your favorite trick(s)?
Fullcab to fullcab to fullcab etc. Besides that, I like wheelies. #youknowwhatsgood

What are your favorite places to ride?
I think I already answered this question, but if I were to narrow it down, I'd say. Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, and Downtown San Jose.

If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
PIZZA, MAN!

What are some of your other hobbies?
Nerding out on my computer , brushing my cat, yelling @ the police.

What do you like most about riding for iMiNUSD?
Home Grown, Grass Roots, Local Livin'.

Now say something nice about the other iMD riders:
Combs can fake an accent like no other. JeffyD looks like a man now that he doesn't have braces anymore. Montoya comes out the woodwork w/ tricks. Scott only speaks slang. Blanco is mad underground. Devon is the freshest new kid on the block. Ed is a hoot & a holler, not to mention a great friend.

Favorite candy bar?
Trolli Bright Crawlers. I know it isn't a candy bar, but screw it.

How long have you been riding?
Riding fixed since ’08. I also grew up racing motocross as a youth.

What (or who) got you into riding?
SF hill bombs and weaving in and out of traffic gave myself the inspiration to ride. SF rider Rai hooked it with a proper fixed set-up that gave my riding even more life. Plus, the late night rides with the Peninsula Fixed Gear crew kept me going.

What do you like most about riding?
No matter how sore your body gets, the adrenaline always makes the pain go away.

Share one incident/event that you find most memorable while riding (injuries, new tricks, etc):
One of the most memorable incidents was leaping at my first down handrail. It was a 13 stair or something like that. I remember lining it up and telling myself over and over exactly what I had to do. I gave it test run after test run. But eventually I said to myself, @#$% it and just huck it!

What places/parks have you rode?
I’ve rode all over the Peninsula area, SF, SJ, some SoCal, and the Midwest.

What’s your favorite trick(s)?

What do you like most about riding for iMiNUSD?
That they have your back! Parts break? They’re on it. Everything on the business side is professional and everything on the homie side is a straight @#%$&@ party. All the riders on the team have seen each other grow throughout the years and it’s something special to be a part of.
